Monte Rosa Huts

The huts of Monte Rosa are the starting point for each trip and climbing excursion for those who want to live nature at 360 degrees.
You can sleep in these huts and do the whole tour of Monte Rosa or one of the climbing ascents to the 4000 meters.

Mantova Hut (www.rifugiomantova.it)
The Mantova hut is owned by the Alpine Guides of Gressoney. It is 3498 meters above sea level on the glacier Garstelet, ideal starting point for the most important climbing trips of Monte Rosa. (Margherita hut, Pyramid Vincent, Cristo delle Vette, Lyskamm, Dufour and Col Lys ) The hut has just been renovated to improve the comfort of guests, for example the new toilets inside and the spacious dining room with a magnificent view on the glacier.

Quintino Sella Hut (www.rifugioquintinosella.com)
The Quintino Sella hut is on Felik, 3585 meters above the sea level on Monte Rosa. It is a fascinating destination that you can reach both from Gressoney and from Ayas Valley. It is the starting point for the ascent to Castor, one of the most accessible 4000 mt. of the Alps.
It is also a crucial point for the Monte Rosa tour, that cross the whole mountain range at high altitude.

Guide del Cervino Hut (www.rifugioguidedelcervino.com)
The Hut of Alpine Guides of Matterhorn is in Aosta valley, 3,480 meters above sea level in the Valtournenche Valley.
Placed on Testa Grigia, directly on the glacier of Plateau Rose, it is the starting point for many climbing trips: the ascent to Breithorn, to Pollux, to Castor and the crossing of Monte Rosa. You can reach the hut from Breuil Cervinia through the lifts of Funivie del Cervino or walking in about three hours with a drop of 1,480 meters.
A few meters from the hut there are the ski resorts of Zermatt, a great opportunity for skiing in winter and in summer (summer skiing) using the hut as a support.
On the Swiss-Italian border the hut is an important reference for skiers, mountaineers and hikers who want to discover the beautiful mountains of Aosta Valley and Switzerland.

Capanna Margherita (www.rifugimonterosa.it)
The observatory-hut Regina Margherita is on the Gnifetti Peak, 4556 meters on the Monte Rosa massif.
You can see it also from the valley bottom when you look toward the peaks. It 's the highest refuge in Europe. It hosts an important physical and weather observatory and it is dedicated to Queen Margherita of Savoia, who spent the night there in 1893, the year of the opening.

The refuge Guglielmina (www.rifugioguglielmina.com)
This hut is rich in history and tradition. It was built by the family Guglielmina. It is 2,880 meters above the sea level between Alagna and Gressoney Valley. In summer you can reach it through an easy path or using the lifts. It is the starting point for many and easy trips, but you can also start for the ascents to the most important peaks of Monte Rosa. The hut has 40 beds in rooms with two beds and a good mountain cooking. It is the ideal place for your mountain holidays.

Hut/Hotel Del Ponte (www.albergodelponte.com)
The hotel was built in 1970 and remains the typical structure of a hut in high mountain. It is 3,280 meters above sea level in the heart of Monte Rosa and exactly in the Gabiet basin. You can reach it by the cablecar Staffal- Gabiet. The hotel allows the direct access to the ski slopes and is an excellent starting point for the most important climbing trips of Monte Rosa.

Hut/Hotel Sitten (www.sitten.it)
The hotel "Ristoro Sitten" allow you to stay in full contact with mountains without giving up the comforts of a modern hotel. It is 2,300 meters above the sea level and it is an ideal starting point for trips both in winter and in summer. The hotel has a terrace with panoramic view from Monte Rosa to the basin of Gressoney La Trinité.
The hotel has twenty beds in seven rooms, with satellite TV, bathroom with shower and hair dryer.

Rifugio Gabiet Gressoney (www.rifugiogabiet.it)
The hut Gabiet welcomes its guests in a simple and comfortable milieu, with typical Walser furniture. It has a dining room, a lounge bar and a beautiful living room with a fireplace and a small mountain library.

Vigevano Hut (www.caivigevano.it)
The hut is in the glacial basin at the foot of the Col d'Olen, at 2864 meters in a panoramic position.
It is born as a hotel Stolemberg-Grober in the early twentieth-century and today is a modern and equipped hut with bar, restaurant and 74 beds in small and comfortable rooms including 4 heated rooms with 3 / 4 beds, 8 not heated rooms with 2 beds, 5 with 3 beds and 5 with 4 beds, bathrooms and hot showers on each floor.
It 's the ideal starting point for heli-skiing and off-piste skiing in winter, an historical starting point for the most important ascents of Monte Rosa and a great starting point for many hiking trails in summer.

In the valley of Rissuolo, in the beautiful Valle Vogna, on the road to Corno Bianco, the Carestia hut was built in 1995 to replace a previous hut, that has become too dangerous to be used.
It is dedicated to Antonio Carestia from Riva, a botanist and an alpinist , worldwide famous, who was very attached to this valley.
It has a bar-restaurant, bathrooms and showers in common, electric lighting and 30 beds. The hut is the ideal place for a quiet stay in an Alpine environment far from daily stress. It has also a winter part in the basement that can host 4 people. The entrance is via a trapdoor near the front door of the refuge.

Pastore Hut (www.rifugiopastore.it)
The Pastore Hut is in a group of restructured mountain huts in the heart of the Parco Naturale Alta Valsesia, on the grassy plain of Alpe Pile under the spectacular south face of Monte Rosa (1575m).
It has 65 beds in rooms with 4/6 beds and has 2 dormitories, one with 12 beds and the other with 16 beds. The bathrooms are in common in an hut at 20 m from the rooms including toilets, wash basins and hot showers.
The refuge also has a camping area and a winter hut that can be used during the closing period.

Gnifetti Hut (www.rifugimonterosa.it/page.php?id_cat=gnifetti&n=capanna-gnifetti)
It is at the head of the glacial basin of Lys, at 3637m on the Garstlet glacier. Capanna Gnifetti has 177 beds in rooms with 4/6 bunk beds and a large dormitory with 12 beds. It has bathrooms in common, 5 showers, electric lighting, SOS radio rescue and a winter hut open during the closing period.

Ayas Guides Hut (www.guidechampoluc.com/datapage.asp?l=1&id=5)
Opened in 1991, The mountain hut is at 3400 meters on a rocky ridge, called Lambronecca and it is one hour walk far from the Mezzalama Hut. This modern building has 80 beds.
